MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR  FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS!

HALL OF FAME AND FALL FAMILY FESTIVAL - NOVEMBER 22, 2009:  To all those that attended this event, thank you for braving the mud.  We appreciate your support.  The food was excellent as well as the music.  To all the inductees and their families, we look forward to having you and your loved ones in our Hall of Fame and for your continued support of the Cajun music and culture.  To everyone who worked to make this event a success, we say a very special thank you.  To Joe Simon and Renee Daigle, thank you for your continued dedication to our association.

DECEMBER GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING:  The Lake Charles Chapter General Membership Meeting was held on Monday, December 7th, at the Lake Charles Civic Center.  The meeting was called to order by President Walter Gotreaux at 7:00 PM.  The prayer and pledge were led by Lesa Cormier and recited in French and English.  Ed Gary gave a membership report as having 265 families.  We had 112 members, 8 children, and 1 queen attend the meeting.  A discussion was held regarding moving the monthly General Membership Meetings to the CFMA building.  A vote was taken and the membership in attendance voted to keep the meetings at the Lake Charles Civic Center for at least 3 more months.  The music was provided by the Lacassine Playboys and the Sweet Shop and Cake Walk were by the Choir.  The meeting adjourned around 8:10 PM.

RAFFLE TICKETS:  Please try to sell your $10.00 worth of tickets.  You may purchase them yourself or sell them to family and friends.  DO NOT THROW YOUR TICKETS AWAY.  If you cannot sell them, bring them back to the General Membership Meeting so someone else may try to sell them.  It costs us additional money to get more tickets printed, so just return them please.  If you have any questions concerning raffle tickets, please call Dot Bell at 337-478-3002.

CFMA BUILDING UPDATE:  If you or someone you know would like to purchase a table or chairs for the CFMA building, please contact Robert Hebert at 337-598-4149.   A 6 food table will cost about $80.00 and the chairs are costing around $30.00 each.  We are continuing to make improvements on the parking lot and the mud situation.

ADULT CHRISTMAS PARTY:  The Adult Christmas Party was held Saturday, December 5th, at the CFMA Building in Lake Charles.  Although attendance was low, those that did attend had a great time with good music and great food.  Special thanks to Jennifer Palimino for Chairing this event.  The decorations were beautiful and much appreciated.

15th ANNUAL FOOD FOR THE NEEDY:  This event was held Sunday, December 6th also at the CFMA Building.  Lesa and Hazel Cormier did their usual great job.  To all the folks who helped out, thank you.  They made up 70 baskets for needy families this year and we know the families receiving the baskets enjoyed them, especially in these difficult times in our economy now.

JANUARY GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING:  The January General Membership Meeting will be held Monday, January 4th, 2010, at the Lake Charles Civic Center.  The band for this meeting will be the Lesa Cormier and the Sundown Playboys and the Sweet Shop and Cake Walk will be by the Board.

CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY:  The annual Children's Christmas Party was held Friday, December 11th at the CFMA Building on East Prien Lake Road from 6 to 9 PM.  Thank you to Doris Rogers for chairing this event.  We had about 50 children attend to receive a gift from Santa and lots of goodies from CFMA.  Thank you to Hope Scharff for the great games for the children and to our special "Santa" thank you for a job well done.
