The Lake Charles Chapter of CFMA will hold its annual Children's Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Family Picnic on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Pinderosa Park in Westlake.  The time will be 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM.  Please call Doris Rogers at  337-477-1416 to register your children no later than March 10th to make certain we have enough refreshments and Easter prizes for all the children.

NEWS CONCERNING THE 2010 UNITED STATES CENSUS:  Everyone should have receiv ed, or will be receiving, their 2010 Census form to be filled out.  Please pay attention to Section 9 "What is Person 1's race?"  There at the bottom of this section you will see "Some other race -- Print race".  This is where you may fill in LOUISIANA CAJUN in the little boxes.  This way, our state will have a better number of Cajuns within Louisiana.  This was on the news early last week and I feel it is important for all true Cajuns out there to fill it in.

The Cajun French Music Association of Louisiana, Inc., is a non-profit (501-C3) organization comprised of musicians and non-musicians of Cajun and non-Cajuns whose sole purpose is to promote and preserve Cajun music and culture wherever possible.

The CFMA was founded and chartered in November 1984 by Harry LaFleur of Eunice, Louisiana.  Since its' beginning with a handful of people, chapters have been established in the cities of Eunice, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lake Charles, Houma, Lafayette, and New Iberia, Louisiana, as well as Gulf Coast, Houston, and San Antonio, Texas.  Associate chapters are in the process of being formed in other states as well.

The Lake Charles Chapter was chartered on September 28, 1987.

We are proud to say that we have built our CFMA Building located at 3481 East Prien Lake Road, in Lake Charles.  This facility is still in the process of being completed as we still need air conditioning, heating, kitchen equipment, and several other things but we have held very successful events there so do come by and see it.  We are very proud of what we have accomplished thus far and look forward to completion of this facility as our CAJUN FRENCH MUSIC ASSOCIATION home, HALL OF FAME, and Cajun Museum.  If you would like information on renting our building, please contact Robert Hebert, Building Chairman, at 337-598-4149.

If you have something you would like to have published on the website, you may email me at webmaster@cfmalakecharles.org

Merci!
