Lawrence Fruge, Sr.  was born in 1899 and passed away in 1957.  He is a native of Lewisburg and learned to play the fiddle and accordion at an early age, inspired by his father Joseph.  During the early 1900's he played with his father and brother, Ernest, as a trio at country and house dances throughout the prairie region.

He also played with Amade Breaux, Joe Falcon and Angelas LeJeune.  Around 1950, he played with the T-Mamou Playboys, a band basically composed of his own family: Eula Mae, Ludren, J.U. and Lawrence, Jr.

He recorded "T-Mamou Two Step," "T-Mamou Waltz," "Eunice Two Step" and "Moonlight Serenade" on the TNT label.
